I've lived in SF for many years, but one thing I noticed after I'd been here for a little while was:
mosquitos are scarce. I don't even have screens on my windows, yet I hardly ever see a mosquito.
I don't know the reason, but it's a great thing!

The reason for the lack of mosquitos is because there is virtually no rain for 6 months out of the year, no standing water for the pests to breed. That's also why the hills are brown, if you were wondering about that as well......
Apologies for my snarkiness, sometimes I'm just stunned......

Unlike their reputation as rude, Philadelphians are pretty friendly and helpful. They hold the door for you, they apologize should they brush by you on the sidewalk and when they say ”We’ll have to go to dinner sometime,” they actually call you to make arrangements.

Why are you surprised? They can’t afford to live there.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen one mosquito since I've been in Denver. It also hasn't rained, I think.
Also, Denver drivers are always in a hurry, I don't mean just on the highway, I mean just pulling into the gas station or driving around the mall. Rush, rush, rush.

In the city or the suburbs? I hardly noticed any mosquitoes in the city but I've had countless bites when living in Berkeley.

And arrogant too.
Newsflash: we do have lakes, ponds and puddles in SF. My first apartment here was not far from a lake. Rarely any mosquitos.
My hometown, in the LA suburbs, had even less rain than SF. Yet mosquitos were a minor problem. Not clouds of them, but enough to be annoying. Mostly in the summer, the time of brown hills and no rain.

There are mosquitoes in the Denver area, but not as many in more humid climates. Most cities spray, as well. How long have you lived there (here)? It was a dry summer. Some summers are rainier.
Denver drivers leave a lot to be desired, I agree.
