I know I am moving in March, 09 and don't know where to go. I am a 25yr. old Male who is not married, no kids and loves to travel. I need to find a large city out west that fits my lifestyle.

I grew up in a small town in WI, then spent 2 years in Madison, WI and loved the city and size. I currently live in Phoenix (Scottsdale), AZ and want to leave the desert lifestyle. I miss seeing real trees and dirt, but don't want long winters. I need a city at least 100,000+ population only out West (Colorado and west) but smaller than 750,000. I enjoy San Diego but it has a very high cost of living. I have considered Portland/Salem/Eugene area or Oregon but am worried about the daily rain. I want a city of people from 23-30, not all retired people, but not young punks that cause crime.

Anyone have any suggestions, I appreciate you reading through all of this and any input. Please ask if you think you need more info.

Sounds like Oregon is exactly what you're looking for! I think you have to realize there are tradeoffs to be made; one hand, you're tired of the desert, but on the other hand you don't like the rain. You have to pick your poison.
Another possibility to consider... perhaps the West isn't really what you're looking for? Maybe something in the lower midwest or upper south? I'd investigate Springfield, MO if I were you.

Go Ne, Thanks for the reply. Fresno I never thought of and is a good answer, I am looking into the city.

As for vegaspilgrim, I appreciate your efforts, although I only want Colorado and west, that's why I wrote "Colorado and West" The reason is because I love the mountains. However you are correct about picking your poison. So that's why I am having so much trouble, because there is not a perfect place. Any more ideas, please send them as it really does help.

Eugene is a pretty nice town. Laid back and people are not in your face.

Albuquerque? Similar to Phoenix, but with new and different surroundings and a more moderate climate.

Santa Fe possibly

it's technically east of Colorado, but Lawrence, KS might meet your needs as well
