I have Connecticut, UConn, and Yankees shirts and hats. Well, honestly I have Yankees earrings, necklaces, watches, bracelets...
I don't have the earrings, unfortunately, but I have the watch (I gave it to my father for Christmas about 10 years ago; when he passed away I kept it) and a gold linked NY charm he gave to me one year for Valentine's Day. Then there are the tees, jackets, caps, sleeveless tees and tank tops, and the bedroom slippers, too.
Yeah is true. what you say. Many people are old-fashioned in the rural areas. Big cities tend to be more liberal and more open to new things
Oh and Go Yankees
I'm from L.A. and most tourists are obnoxious to me because they are pushy or rude or both. The Japanese, for example, won't excuse themselves if they run into you and won't move if you say "excuse me". I'm an immigrant and the first words I was taught to say in English were "thank you", "sorry" and "excuse me". It seems that tourists from out of state have forgotten those common courtesies (or never learned them to begin with) and it's usually the ones who show their "pride" that are the worst.
Every time I've gone out of state I don't wear anything that identifies me as being from L.A. and people still ask me where I'm from. That's the only way anyone knows that I'm from out of state (other than the occasional picture that a local wouldn't take which is how the conversation gets started in the first place) is by asking me.
I go naked. I don't dare wear anything that bears the Kansas City name on it because I am embarrassed to live here. Thankfully I am not a native and don't have to stay here for an eternity.
I am a Southern Belle so I dress nicely. At a recent office Christmas party I went to, the women in the office from the North and the Western part of the country didn't understand what "formal attire" meant. They either didn't dress too differently from how they dress in the office, or they "dressed up" in clubbing type clothes. I was one of the few who wore a nice dress that came down to the knee.
They have I <3 NJ shirts everywhere now all over NJ (I've even seen New Jersey tourist gear being sold in Manhattan), but i've always thought it was a corney thing to wear in other places of the country like I think wearing an I <3 NY shirt is if you're a NYer.
I just wear my Hackensack Athletics high school shirt or sweatpants just to let people know where I come from, but i never really go over the top.
I also have an old over sized sweatshirt of the Newark Bears, which is extremely old but comfortable.
Sometimes I wear my bright orange "Fcku y'all I'm from Texas!" t-shirt that I bought in Austin (of all places). It brings me joy and I especially love telling people that I got it from Austin, the place they love, but have never been.
