In metro Detroit you can spot all kinds, but the most prominent I would say would be Irish, Italian, and Greek. You mostly see the flags from the people that like to hang onto their cultures even though they have been in the U.S. for many years.
In and around Detroit the Canadian flag in pretty popular as well since we are neighbors with them.
Up north here....the Canadian flag and the US flag are often flown side by side at motels....some gas stations and at sporting venues. Some also have flags from Sweden and Norway, two areas where early immigrants were from who settled in the northern Red River valley.
Pretty much the only foreign flag seen flying in Los Angeles is the Mexican flag [and it is widely exhibited]. Sometimes the Japanese flag is seen esp in front of the Marukai grocery stores. Some other Asian flags are fairly common in certain neighborhoods [Thailand\ India\ Korea\ China, etc].
Puerto Rico, Cuba, Italy, Ireland, Israel, Dominican Republic, are probably the most common. El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, etc., follow.
