Hey guys! I'm brand new here.

I'm writing my first novel. I'm halfway done with the rough draft. Anyway, I'm setting the book in Georgia. I haven't been to Georgia since I was 14. I'm going to head back there in a few months. I am going to create a fictional small town for my story. I need to find a good town to visit in order to create my fictional city.

Can anyone suggest a town for me? I am looking for a small town of 5,000 people or less. It should be very family friendly, and not too modernized. There should be at least two or three churches. I would like there to be some farms in this town. It doesn't matter how many farms or how big they are, but I would like a little farm land.

Any ideas? Thank you, in advance.

While a bit larger than 5,000 folks, I think Americus would make a terrific setting. Beautiful old homes, a small college, very interesting families all set in rural Sumter County, the home of Plains, Jimmy Carter's home town.

I second americus and i also understand its a little bigger but Perry would probably do well. Cordele may do well, and don't forget vidalia.

Not too far from the Atlanta area , but with the feel of a by-gone era, Senoia fits the bill.

My suggestion is Greensboro (pop est 3500), about 1 1/2 hrs east of Atlanta.

Ooo. That's a great suggestion. It's also near Lake Oconee.
