Sales and investments are down in huge amounts as people trim off unneccessary purchases such as supplemental insurance.
I will say that the day Mr Amos leaves..... Aflac will no longer be the same and will leave Columbus thereafter.
All good things come to an end as they say.

Statements like...
Aflac stock is down 31% since Sept. 18, and the company reported a 76% drop in profit in the third quarter. Aflac had no direct investment in subprime loans, but it lost $198 million from its stock in Lehman Bros. and Washington Mutual
and
CEOs often depart in failure at a time when it's embarrassing to pay them millions as they leave.
and
Amos makes about $4.3 million a year in salary and bonus, his total compensation including stock options came to more than $14 million in both 2006 and 2007.

I think anyone who would give up a 13 million parachute after making 28 million over the last 2 years alone(he should have refused salary for last year as dismal as it was) is not a particularly noble person.
Especially when stockholders would not approve it anyway.

idk the MD office has expanded 500%. I think Aflac has a chance at a turnaround. THey're REALLY turnign around by streamlining products and approaches, plus opening up an entire new market (1099s just opened like 2 days ago). I think they do have a chance. If anything they make 90% of hteir profit in Japan, they're huge there, so the impact in the US is a lot less than you'd think.
