I highly doubt it. The Georgia Flag is similar to the original and actual confederate flag. As another poster mentioned earlier, it does not really have any stigma attached to it.

How long did it take you to come up with that?!

I question the basis for presuming that being a southern state must necessary mean being opposed to the United States or practicing racial intolerance.

A few seconds. When one understands the nature of things well, and know a language, it doesn't typically take very long to express thoughts.

I guess you could tackle Stone Mountain next. Then life would be good, just milk and honey.
Very generous use of the word "hero." Do heroes exist on the side fighting for massive human suffering and oppression?

Those counties are largely regressive so I wouldn't worry too much about their names being changed. Unless pressured to do so by the business community or at the risk of a PR disaster, Georgia's not going to fight that battle.

Yes, erasing the embarrassing monument on the face of Stone Mountain would be most excellent. Also removing the Confederate flag that still (STILL?!) flies at the base of the walk-up trail.

Wasn't our current state flag chosen as some sort of compromise? What kind of compromise is it to remove the controversial symbol and replace it with one that represents the exact same thing, only with less recognition? And for those who believe it represents "Southern heritage," why can't we have an all-inclusive symbol of southern heritage and not one that represents white supremacy? This is a very diverse region and one with many qualities worth celebrating. It can't be that difficult.

Ok, erase the embarrassing monument and remove the flag at the base, then life will be good, just milk and honey? Or is their something else? We know there is.

Removing symbols of white supremacy on public property and government seals seems reasonable. That's enough. "Milk and honey" would be everyone rejecting symbols of inequality and embracing all as equals. But that's not likely to happen. People are only asking that it not be on the symbols of government (flags, etc.); governments that are supposed to be representative of everyone.

Speaking of which, why are images of Lee and Jackson, who fought in the East, up there instead of rebels who fought in Georgia? Like Bragg, Hood or Joe Johnston? Or that fool Polk? How about Cheatham and Breckinridge sharing a snort?

I see they recently put a statue of Cleburne, one of the few good Confederate generals in the West, in Ringgold Gap. Of course he was stalled at division command, in an army full of incompetent corps commanders, because he naively advocated freeing Blacks and using them as Confederate soldiers.

It's absurd that Georgia changed it's state flag from what it was to something related to the confederacy at all. It's insulting, pick something not related with terrorism and racism. They had an opportunity to fix this the last time they changed it, and blew it then too

To be fair, the Confederacy was not as much about racism (any more than the Union was) at the time as compared to how much the battle flag later become to be a symbol of racism. The advancement of the spiritual maturity of the United States involves not quashing religious reactionaryism and conservatism, but rather cleansing away the immoral artifacts (such as racism) that have either been stuck onto or are core aspects of religious reactionaryism and conservatism when those immoral artifacts affect society outside the boundaries of the bodies, families, homes and churches of those who wish to revel in such immoral artifacts.

To be fair, at the time several of the rebelling states , including Georgia, were quite clear in proclaiming they were rebelling to protect the institution of slavery. Note too that the constitution of the rebel government forbade a state making slavery illegal.

Also, to be fair, the Federal government went to war to suppress rebellion, not to end slavery. It was no holy war to end slavery, though suppression of rebellion was good reason enough.
