Absolutely, there are many, many gay men out there who've had an astronomical amount of sex partners. The typical promiscuous straight man doesn't even come close to that level.

It's ridiculous how the blame for the spread of HIV gets put on everyone except for gays.

We all know that men are promiscuous whether they're straight or gay. Put two men together, naturally there's going to be a lot of sex going on. And by the way, wasn't it some straight guy named Wilt Chamberlain who claims to have bedded thousands of women? I believe Gene Simmons of KISS has claimed the same. He's straight.

No, what is happening is people are informing those who are less informed that AIDS does NOT happen just within gays. Gay, straight, old, young, white, black, asian, indian, asexual, doesn't matter. AIDS doesn't discriminate.

The real explosion in the HIV rate was where it crossed over from being mostly a gay or hemophiliac condition to a heterosexual problem as well. One well document example was a bi-sexual flight attendant that spread the disease far and wide. Now people know and that genie is out of the bottle, getting HIV in most cases isn't anybodys fault but their own.

So in short, it wasn't "gay behavior" that caused heterosexuals to suffer. It was IV drug use and unprotected sex that cause most heteros to get HIV. There is not some gay guy running around tackling heteros giving them HIV at the bus stop or in the dairy section at the supermarket.

NONE of this was / is "inevitable". All of it could have been avoided. All one had to do was be choosy about partners, and refrain from certiain practices. But apparently the ideology of anonymous casual sex trumps all for some people.

You're right. I never should have had all of that casual sex with my husband. Neither should the many women I have known who got it the same way

And what do those two men have in common? They're both famous. Were they not famous, would they even have gotten a chance to (supposedly) bed as many women? Go to any gayborhood, and you'll find a high percentage of gay men who've already had thousands of sex partners.

Here in the US (and in the entire "western world" actually), gays are the ones who are overwhelmingly affected by AIDS. It's a disservice to suggest that everyone irregardless of their sexual orientation stands an equal risk of contracting the virus.

Wrong. The so-called "patient zero" was gay.

Nasty viruses and bacterial infections will be with us for a long time irrespective of sexual behaviours. We can pretend to magically eliminate risky sexual practices and in that world the inevitable threat from pathogens will still exist. It will still be a clear and present danger. Shall we blame the Spanish Flu, SARs, Ebola, Influenza etc etc on gay orgies? No! Besides you will never control the sexual behaviour of adults - even in societies that enforce by law - still fail in that so it is not constructive.

Who cares if he was gay or bi... He certainly was not patient zero - there have been documented cases of HIV infections well before Dugas - even in the U.S..

The main lesson from the AIDS epidemic is that political correctness kills.

If a man had a choice to have unprotected, unpaid, random sex with either an uneducated, inner city, gay, drug using, black male or an asian, suburban, educated, drug free, middle class woman: What are the chances to get a sexual disease?

The logic answer should be to abstain, because of the randomness.
The second logic should be that random & protection MUST go together.
The third logic barrier should be that when taking drugs, judgment, education and trust are impaired.
The fourth logical barrier should be the possible infection rate: Opposite end of the spectrum for the two groups!
The fifth logic realization will be that those particular females don't even offer random sex.

If sexuality is embedded within social structures, norms, sanctions, benefits, repercussions, laws, religion, love, spirituality, economic prosperity and multi generational thinking, it fulfills multiple functions. Asian, suburban, educated, drug free, middle class women are realizing this more than other groups apparently and have the lowest HIV infection rate therefore.

If sexuality is decoupled from all that, it is justifying itself for carnal pleasures. Don't judge! It's my right! It's just a It's gay bashing! I'm born this way! It's love! It's prejudice! If you identify yourself based simply on your sexuality, you are losing the means to social functionality to a large extent. Hookers, pimps, pedo, tr-nny, octomom, and others are derogatory words used when that happens. If sexuality plays a less dominant or more channeled role, we use words like father, single, virgin, ascetist, bachelor, patriach.

Hetero sexual 'freedom' (decoupling) paved a way for the current gay movement to a huge extent. That freedom has its costs and viruses and bacterias are one of the debts to pay. A future sexual disease could be as dominant to a heterosexual clientele sometimes. That would have to be pointed out as well when it happens.
