In the future everyone might have dashcams, front and rear, and built in to all new cars. That would make it easier to get evidence of rude drivers. But what good would that evidence do?
Maybe it could be used for shaming them in public, on a website of rude drivers. You would enter their license plate, a video of their rudeness, and maybe a text description of their rude act. The website's database would keep track of them, look up their license plate, show their ID photo and their phone number, and let people search by name, by description of car, or by type of rudeness.
You realize every driver on the road would be in the database.
But we could give them rudeness scores, according to what rude acts they did, and how many times. Then people could search for the rudest. Or they could aim their cellphones at license plates and an app would tell how rude that person was. And if they want to rent an apartment or something, the apartment manager could aim a cellphone at their license plate to make sure they aren't renting to people who are too much ruder than average.

You know, you could extend this to rude dates and really make some money! Until of course you get sued for libel, which would be inevitable.
So tell us what inspired this, so we can all debate on whether the driver in question was actually rude or not?

Living in North Jersey you become all but numb to rude drivers and you'll forget about it in like 30 seconds because you actually have to pay attention to the road. I don't think anyone has time to go online and click a dislike button for poor driving manners.
I am not a rude person by nature and I am an exemplary driver. But a database like the o.p. suggests? Seriously? The difference between myself and the o.p. who, sadly, is typical of many drivers around the world. I know that I have done boneheaded things from time to time that to another driver might appear aggressive or rude. No accidents, no one killed or even hurt but I know that there was a time when I borrowed a friends pick-up to move a refrigerator. It was blocking my view and I cut someone off.
From my window this afternoon I heard a driver lay on his horn for a ridiculously long time in response to some interaction with another driver. Some drivers have no tolerance at all for mistakes except their own...
I think the real question we need to answer before this thread goes on any longer is: are there perfect drivers who have never, ever, ever made a mistake in traffic and will never? That's really the crux question. If we are all human and prone to error the database will be overrun in days and rendered useless. If in fact the rude and clueless are only a small subset of the total number of drivers on the road then, by all means, lets start shaming them.
No, because the morons would have equal access to it. You not letting them run down the emergency lane gives them the ability to report you as a bad driver.
No, because you will just use it to harass someone you don't like. That's what every public shaming vehicle eventually becomes.
