I hope that this is not off-topic and we can have a civil discussion about the recent protests since we saw Trump win the electoral vote. I have one question, who do you blame for them? I have my theory but want to hear others first.

A gross mismatch between the protesters' expectations and the election outcome

I don't "blame" anyone; I simply see them as painful evidence of the gullibility of too many American voters, and in both "camps"; also our susceptibility to manipulation by Madison Avenue, Hollywood, and the so-called "mainstream" media.

I blame the Founding Fathers for giving us the expectation that we had the right to protest.

Interesting idea. I mean they did give us the right to assemble but at the same time, they couldn't get it from the crown with the post-French and Indian War period.

My thoughts that I alluded to were mentioned in the first reply, Trump himself. Now my view isn't that it was because of the fact that Trump got elected, but rather that it is poetic that he and his supporters are condemning the protests, yet Trump encouraged protests 4 years ago against Obama and again weeks heading into the election with his comments of not accepting the results of the election unless he won...
