Why did Obama receive the Nobel Peace Prize? Is it because he is noble?

Defintion: The Nobel Peace Prize

Definition: Nobles - Definition of Nobles by the WordIQ Dictionary, Encyclopedia and Thesaurus

Let's understand that Obama had words, and they are actions when a leader speaks.

Contemplate that how many words were spoken by Obama during the two weeks that he was POTUS before the nomination closed for candidates of the award. Were his words that strong in two weeks to amount to action? Why weren't his words as a Senator as strong?

Does this all seem to you to be something sur-real, like fiction?

Does his stance on Isreal have anything to do with it? Israel - Information about Israel

Shall we consider the omnipotence? Muslim Bridges

Are those of nobility seeking to find a place for the masses? The religion of Islam

Mr. Nobel's surname had no connection with Nobility.

It probably wouldn't hurt to have this issue in every forum here.

No kidding. That was thrown out as a irony.

Judging by a lot of arguments I see on this forum, there are a lot of posters who did not know that, and were mentally formulating a reply based on their characteristically high coefficient of ignorance. Also worth noting is that the chemical element Nobelium is not one of the "noble metals", in case some periodic table nut wanders off topic.

But, the element Nobelium and the Nobel Price are both named after the same man - Alfred Nobel (our Swedish national hero, inventor of the dynamite).

What is the purpose of this thread if the OP/titel was ironic?

Umm---Yes, but Noble Metals were not. Noble metals were named that for the nobility, the only people who could afford things made from them.

I guess we'll all never be on the same irony page. I thought Abba was your national hero.

jtur88... your TOO much. Thanks for the added irony!

What action did the nobles take to be recognized as peaceful?

Other than speaking, what ACTION has Barry taken in the same accord?

Seems the greater irony is that actions toward peace are less important than pontificating about it.

I think you've nailed it.

Nobody offered a Nobel Peace prize to the Americans who deserted and went to Canada during the Vietnam war. They were ordered to go to war, and they just said No. The Nobel Peace prize instead went to Henry Kissinger, the man who assassinated Allende and opened up Cambodia to the Khmer Rouge, and who returned the prize because even his own conscience told him it was undeserved.
