Forget gas mileage: The most striking aspect of the new Ford Focus Electric is what it doesn't have. "Battery-powered cars are intrinsically quiet, the motor sound falling between a whir and a whisper," marvels a New York Times review of the car. "But the Focus is deep-space silent, the quietest of the many electric cars I’ve driven."
I read an article a couple of months ago on this, it said IF this becomes a problem they can equip the vehicles with noise makers similar to the ones they have to ward away deer...
Nothing like making a problem where there isn't one but I guess someone somewhere can always dream up something that is dangerous to someone and there will always be someone who is scared of his/her shadow....
I was always taught to make eye contact with drivers when I am walking - that way I know that they know that I'm there. If people would just stop looking at their phones while walking, this wouldn't be a problem!

A little situational awareness goes a long way in surviving day to day. You'd think this would just be common sense but it seems to be lacking. I have a hybrid and people just do not pay attention in parking lots. I will back out ever so slowly and people just look shocked because without the gas engine running they just didn't "see" me, relying only on their hearing instead.
When it comes to parking lots doesn't make a difference whether you drive a hybrid, 100% electric or 100% gas/diesel...
PEOPLE DON'T LOOK
Don't know about anyone else but I watch for the reverse lights to come on in parking lots.
