Some celebrities seem to think their celebrity gives them keener insights than mortal folks have. I'll bet that Arnold uses at least 10 times more fossil fuels than the average citizen. Electricity mostly comes from fossil fuels. Then you have the Hummer. Private airplanes. Giant houses.
I wonder if they don't want us to use fossil fuels because their lavish lifestyles requires such a disproportionate amount. DiCaprio, Ford, Cameron etc.... Less for us = More for them.

I hate that too. It's like with Bea Johnson who wrote Zero Waste Home... year after year her family's annual landfill waste fits inside of a jar and yet for all the effort (and snub) she flies all the time for talks and vacation. She's been called out on it too, but she doesn't care. Some of us think she's missing the point entirely...
Sure, I really dislike DiCaprio's lifestyle and I didn't think he needed to go to the Arctics to see for himself how much the climate there has changed.. on the other hand, his recent documentary was well done, convincing and inspiring...
It's an unfortunate reality that some people are worth more and have more privileges than others.
But that is a totally separate discussion from whether or not pollution and fossil fuels are dirty and kill people.

Trust me, they don't have to worry in terms "Less for us = more for them"!
Have more than enough means to get what they need long after it's all gone for the rest of us... Yet, for some reason, those celebrities often will be the first ones switching to green energy and whatever conservation efforts that can be done. Why is that?
Maybe, because, for all their money, they'd still breath the same (dirty) air as the rest of us would?
Or because they, too, would be affected, one way or another, by the changing weather patterns and intensifying natural disasters, and possibly crop shortages?
Did you actually read what he wrote? The stats about deaths and disease caused by pollution is more than sufficient to avoid fossil fuels.
Do any of these stats include the energy used to move people by ambulance or other fossil fuel powered vehicle at high speed? Do they include the fossil fuel footprint of our medical systems which have greatly extended lives? Is the life expectancy increase after fossil fuels began to be consumed considered?
Arnold loved owning several gas guzzling hummers years ago, smokes, and lives in an excessively large home. He takes helicopters when possible, and any distance travel will involve flying on a private jet or first class.
How in any way is Arnold a role model for people who seek to consume less? When someone decides to make a statistic, they determine the basis for it. If the life saving, enhancing, extending, and quality producing value of energy consumption is written off, you can get statistics like Arnold's.
Would you prefer an unheated hospital, with doctors walking to work, and being carried by a human in some sort of hammock when ill? Do you detest the technology (C-Pap, Tens, and so many others) that help us improve quality and longevity of life, but consume fossil fuel and are produced in large part by fossil fuel.
