So here, and elsewhere, people are talking about "living green" - assuming that human beings are largely responsible for cyclical global climate fluctuations and change. We talk about nuclear & wind power, recycling, electric cars and the like.
But what nobody wants to admit - sitting in a warm coffee shop sipping exotic coffee drinks and typing about being green - is that the only real answer is lower energy consumption on a personal level.
Austerity. It's the only answer.
But nobody is willing to do it. Lots of talk, but no action.

There is no need to freeze in the dark. One can live an affluent, green lifestyle with appropriate choices. 50% of my electricity is sourced from wind resources. I take public transportation more often than I drive my Porsche. I have substantially improved the energy performance of my 85 year old arts and crafts house.

If you really believe that austerity is the only answer then why are you here on this forum, why are you online using internet consuming and wasting energy? Why don't you practise what you preach?
Wasn't it you that recently started a condescending thread pointing the finger at what you call sanctimonious hypocrites? Your posts degenerated into personal attacks against other members for not agreeing with you. And now you're doing it again.
Do you believe that what you are doing here is not sanctimonious and hypocritical and a waste of energy?
