Heard this on Paul Harvey News this morning and here's an article about it but Today in Japan Honda Motors rolled out of the assembly line the first Zero Emission Cars as they are headed to Los Angeles.
The FCX Clarity runs on Hydrogen and Electricity and emits only water.

I wonder how much pollution is produced to make the hydrogen fuel cells.
Much less than what it takes to make the dinosaur technolgy of an internal combustion engine and what most of those vehicles emit. Do you work for Exxon or something?
I have a serious question about a car like this...
Water vapor has a much stronger greenhouse gas effect than CO2. Is the amount emitted by a car like this too small to be an issue? It seems like a freeway crowded with hydrogen cars during rush hour could feel like a sauna.

That doesn't make sense...water vapor changes into water itself, so driving those things around the drought stricken southeast would help.

Who the hell cares, how is this going to lower the price of gas, O I know lets drill for our own oil.Thats to easy.
I've seen this in an auto show back in the early 90s. Touted as a 'concept car'. There was a brief description of how the model can run on hydrogen gas and emits a water compound as exhaust. Sounds like right out of a sci-fi movie. Of course, no working unit was actually made...until now. Wonder how much the price tag will be.
N.B. I doubt the water emissions is safe for drinking. So don't get any ideas.

I'm not meaning to start a debate on CO2 or pollution from cars. It is a serious question. If you have tens of thousands of cars driving around emitting water vapor it has to have an effect.
Maybe someone has a more scientific answer or maybe I should start a new thread.

I do wish that the hydrogen stations wouldn't necessarily be at gas stations. It would be nice to see Big Oil get some competition from other retailers.

Considering how small the fuel cell is, I doubt there's much vapor. I mean, if it is a rainy day, the amount of water in the air from rain is magnitudes greater and it doesn't cause any issue.
I strongly believe that a hydrogen power economy is the future, sooner or later. First off, there are many things that need to be addressed that are misconceptions about hydrogen cars.
1. Hydrogen is not an energy source, it is an energy storage unit similar to a battery. You need an energy source (ie. wind turbine, dam, coal plant etc) to produce hydrogen. You can use any source to make your hydrogen, it will probably be whatever is the cheapest source of energy so unfortunately that is coal. The good news is that if renewable energy sources are the cheapest source of energy that energy will be used to produce hydrogen. Sooner or later we will meet all our fuel and energy demands from renewables.
2. Electric cars are more efficient. This myth is true however hydrogen powered cars ARE electric cars. They simply convert the hydrogen into electricity. There are plug in hydrogen cars (see: ford edge hydrogen) that can use grid electric for commuting and use hydrogen for long distance travel.
3. Hydrogen will be similar to big oil. Big oil may take a major stake in hydrogen production but you can easily bypass big oil with hydrogen. The main fact is that anyone can produce their own hydrogen as long as they have a source of energy (ie. pv panels or a wind turbine). Try doing that with gasoline.
