I have been looking at Hampton Inn Hotels within 50 miles of Winston-Salem for the dates 10/15-10/21. I am finding a lot of these that are not available, makes it seem like they are full up.
Is there something special going on that week that would cause the hotels to fill up? There is also a price jump during that week also.
The fall market (International Home Furnishings Market) in High Point is October 16-22. It generally draws about 75k-100k visitors, which means that the hotel rooms in this area are generally sold out or hard to get.
Best of luck to you. You may have to settle for something outside the Triad. Even if you find something, the price will probably be much higher than usual.
The market is held twice per year - once in the spring, once in the fall.
Oh yeah...I remember growing up in WinstonSalem and it blew my mind our hotels were filled up when HighPoint's furniture market was going on....I could never believe the whole freakin' Triad was getting filled up.

The next High Point Furniture Market big she-bang, when 120,000 plus vendors, buyers etc. descend upon the area is October 16th thru 22nd.
Sounds to me like the reason you're having trouble finding hotel space as well as why there is a price jump.
