If your husband's job is in Brown's Summit, I think Kernersville is not a convenient location for you. You probably need to focus on Greensboro.
Why? Because of the distance? Isn't it about 30-35 mins away? If so, My husband currently drives about 1hr-1hr 15mins to work so that would be nothing.

During rush hour it would be more like 45 to 60 minutes. If he's ok with that, then all is well and fine. Personally, I wouldn't sign up for that commute, especially when it isn't necessary.

Gotcha.. I will definitely keep that in mind.. thank you.
Also, there are many similar neighborhoods in Greensboro to everything in Kernersville. One of the nice things about this area is that you don't need a long commute. 150 runs right across nortern Guilford county. It connects the towns of Oak Ridge, Summerfield and Brown Summit.
Northwest and Northern are great schools, whose district runs along 150.
Finding the apartment you want limits it a little. You should also check home rentals. You may easily find a house in the northern county at a good price.
I just checked out craigslist (hint use map view...filter 3 bedrooms) There are houses available in this area from 1000 and up.
