Looking for a nice apartment in Winston Salem (Winston-Salem, Wake Forest: apartments, school)

I'm moving to Winston Salem for a new job with Wake Forest University and I'm looking for a nice, safe apartment preferably within 15 minutes of the school. I'm a 23 year old female. I looked at a lot of places downtown, but there's not much availability in my time frame. I've been focusing right around the school for the most part. I just want to be able to run to the grocery store that's near by and feel safe outside my building. Any suggestions are helpful!
