Exactly. This could potentially mean 1000+ jobs. Now, these jobs will likely be replacing many of the other BB&T jobs already at that site, but it's very possible that Greensboro will come out of this merger ahead of where they were (Winston-Salem on the other hand, won't... though Winston will likely keep a large number of jobs).

I know it's not a brand new spin off company maybe you are quoting GSOCitizen from his first post which I know that's not what he meant.. But yes mortgage insurance is a big part of their services just like Arch Capital here in Greensboro look it up. Not the only one.

What makes this significant is that Greensboro will be headquarters to the newly combined mortgage operations of a bank that will become one of the largest banks in the United States after the merger. Thats huge. This news hasn't completely gotten around yet. Only posted on the Triad Business Journal and Richmond's newspaper.

The first post of the thread mentioned insurance. Mortgage companies do provide insurance services and since there are no details about what operations are coming, it's premature to say insurance services won't be provided

Not in relation to Suntrust/BB&T. They have no mortgage insurance operations. And there are lots of details about the exactly what "operations" (if you want to call a handful of position an operation) are coming, and none of them have anything to do with mortgage insurance.

Whether its insurance related or not its a big deal for Greensboro. The thread topic started out with this being an insurance related deal so that's why everyone is talking about insurance.
