Our home, according to Greenville County Schools is zoned for Greenville Middle. However, after reviewing the sight, I realized that this is a magnet school and students must apply. If I'm zoned for this school, do we still have to apply for this school or would be go to a different school? Not sure how this works. Also, I'm not sure about the dress code. I noticed that some schools, students must wear solid colored shirts, no jeans, collared shirts, etc. Is Greenville Middle the same?
Hi - From what I can tell, Greenville Middle is a select school that offers students out of the attendance zone a chance to apply to come to Greenville Middle. However, if you reside in the attendance zone for Greenville Middle, your child would be able to attend without the application process - you would register your child at the school, as usual.
I am not sure that there are uniforms at Greenville Middle - looking briefly at the student handbook (http://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/gvillem/Front%20Page%20News/2010-2011%20Handbook.pdf (broken link)) I didn't see anything specific regarding uniforms or specific attire, but you're right, some middle schools do have an expectation of a type of shirt and khaki pants, for example. I would call to be sure, though.
Thank you so much. This information was very helpful.
