Is there a place to buy clothing made around here that isn't ridiculously priced? I'm not looking for tailor-made stuff, just a pair of jeans or a shirt that was made in South Carolina. Does such a thing exist?

Thanks for the links - I see that these companies are locally owned, but do you know if the clothes themselves are manufactured locally? I can't find this information on the websites.

From reading one of the articles linked on the Southern Tide web site, their shirts are made in China.

From OOBE's web site: "OOBE sources and manufactures product in more than 25 facilities in 10 countries", so probably all foreign made.

Hampden appears to be a store, and carries a large list of products by various desingers, most of which appear to be international, and high fashion. You'd have to go through each designer that they carry and research the company individually.

a Google search turned up a couple of articles that state that Hincapie "has a factory is in Columbia". The articles don't say if they have them in other countries or not.

So most likely you won't be finding even US made clothing from any of them, let alone truly local stuff.

Cut and sew operations went overseas years ago due to cheap wages. If you do find SC-manufactured/made clothing, it is not likely to be on the low end of the price range. Labor cost is not an insignificant factor in pricing.

That is Colombia the country, not Columbia the city. George and his family are from South America....Colombia.

I should have been more clear about that. Not being in the area yet, I forgot that there is a city with that name close by!
