Ok, I wasn't going crazy. I noticed last week when driving by that the IBM sign was gone. Thought maybe it was being replaced...now my question is answered.
I hope someone is able to fill that location. I remember that building from when I lived in Greenville before and always thought -- I'd like to work there someday. I was just a kid then with no idea who IBM even was, but still, a pleasant memory.
IBM has been keeling over a slow death for several years. They have a large corporate office in upstate NY, that several of my family members have worked for over the years..early retirement is often offered, or just flat out laid-off. What used to be the go-to job for the area is pretty much a dead fish now.
It was Liberty Life before IBM, owned by the Hipp family. I had the pleasure of contracting there for several years. Was a gorgeous facility with a family like atmosphere. Unfortunately one of the last of its kind.

Actually, it was Liberty Life before Athene. You're getting two separate companies that were located in the same complex mixed up.

What I meant is that the entire complex was Liberty Life originally, well before IBM and Athene. Insurance ran out of the older section and Legal/Finance/Broadcasting was the newer complex that paralleled Wade Hampton.
