This AM, I read an article about the Union Kitchen food incubator in Washington, DC. It's a 7,300 sq foot warehouse that serves as an incubator for food-based businesses. Almost 60 food businesses are now affiliated (some part-time) with this place.
Seems like a cool idea and one that would do well in Greenville. Just like other cities come to study our downtown, we should be looking to other cities for ideas that would build our business base.
Certainly seems like an interesting idea, and we do have industrial manufacturing space, though I believe the spaces that would have suited this type of idea well have already been turned into residences downtown.
I believe I read something today on Facebook where this very thing is coming to Downtown Greenville. It is a commercial kitchen available to rent out, etc.
Oh, he's living the big life now. I forgot. But I note he linked to a Dallas business to put Columbia down this time. That's fine, but if living in a foodie culture is that important to him he should move to Austin.
