Hi all! There is a high chance of our family relocating to the area due to a job transfer and I was hoping to get some insight on whether or not any of the local elementary schools have gifted programs?

I'm not sure which city/suburb we would end up in, and honestly I need the best one that will fit the needs of my son. He will be in 2nd grade and is highly gifted.

Any and all insight is much appreciated.

My son was in one in Greenville County for a year or two about 10 years ago. We weren't impressed. He wasn't impressed either and begged to quit going. I think he went for an hour or two each week so if you are expecting a full time program, it may not be here.

The Charles Towne Center at the Sterling school has separate Gifted and Talented section for the 3rd to 8th Grade. It requires aptitude testing at > 98th percentile and scoring at or above 98th percentile in the PASS or ITBS exams

If you do not get in 3rd grade it may be difficult to get in even if you are gifted, since there are only 75 seats per grade and you can get in only if someone leaves and a slot opens up. The waiting list is long.
