My kids have found a swimming hole not far from our house, but I'm concerned that it may not be safe. The bit of research I've done online all references articles from many years ago (2008 being the most recent). Anyone have a more updated study or other resource on bacteria levels and whatnot in the Reedy River? FWIW, they have done some exploring and fishing in the same spot and have found a decent amount of life (and diversity) there. Thanks.

No. Just no. DHEC even recommends not swimming in it. Too many pollutants and animal feces for it to be considered safe.

This is from 2 1/2 years ago, but there hasn't been a miraculous cleanup of the Reedy since then: Reedy River still has miles to go on cleanup | The Greenville News | greenvilleonline.com

To me, it doesn't pass the smell test - the Reedy has a funky smell that seems to be a combination of chlorine from a wastewater plant, poop, and some weird chemical funk.
