I am from Columbus and read the Dispatch. The travel writer has a very limited budget so these pieces are usually based on a 1.5 - 2.5 day trip. Therefore, he isn't going to be able to see much in that time frame. Also, it makes sense to focus on downtown as tourists visiting Greenville will likely stay downtown where a lot can be experienced by walking around. All of the articles I have read about Greenville focus on the downtown area and this one is no different. Once people decide to visit Greenville, they will seek out other things to do and see based on their personal interests (hiking, kayaking, shopping, golfing, etc.)
