I'm planning a move to Greenille in September, and am going to get rid of most of my furniture before the move to minimize hassle and costs. Which means I'll be looking to purchase some furniture on arrival - mattress and box springs, home office furnishings, a bookcase or two, living room furniture, TV stand, small dinette set. I'll be renting a 1-2 BR apartment for a year, then hopefully purchase a 1-2 BR condo.
I'm not looking for high end stuff or antiques, decent used or affordable new would fit my needs (except mattresses - I won't buy a used mattress). I've been looking at reviews on Yelp, but wanted to see if anyone here has recommendations based on their own (or relatives/friends) furniture buying experiences. Places that deliver is a must - I'm too old to lug stuff around. Thanks.

I will say it may be worth going up to Tyson Furniture in Black Mountain. My mother, and my boyfriend found they beat the price on the furniture they were looking for elsewhere by a large enough amount. My BF lives almost 3 hours away from Tyson and even with the delivery fees, he saved over $1000 over the lowest of the 3 estimates he got from other places on the exact same piece of furniture. Seems Tyson will deliver all the way down to Florida!!!

That was the first thing I tried, searching for "furniture", "affordable furniture", and "used furniture" in Greenville-Spartanburg area. I didn't get any results, which was I thought surprising.

Check out the Restore/Habitat for Humanity. Daughter found some great finds there when furnishing first place — a brass bead, a desk, bookshelf. Etc. Reasonable prices, some very good finds and helping others at the same time.
