Small plane crash at GSP sends three to hospital | greenvilleonline.com | The Greenville News

A plane crash at Greenville Spartanburg Airport has sent three people to the hospital and closed a portion of State 14 near the Verne Smith Parkway. Images from the scene show the plane largely intact.

No vehicles on State 14 were hit and the plane, a Beechcraft King Air, was on airport property, said GSP spokeswoman Rosylin Weston. The plane is resting in a grassy area at the end of the runway and not on State14. That crash happened around 10 this morning.

“Right now, our main focus is getting people out of the plane and transporting them,” she said.

Fire and emergency personnel are still on the scene. Weston said there was no fire at the crash site.

Airport is closed right now, will re-open soon.

Saw pics posted by WYFF4 on Facebook. Plane looks largely intact, no fire. They said 3 people were transported to hospital, but no word on nature/extent of injuries. Eyewitness said the landing gear weren't down when it hit the Hwy 14 guardrails.

State 14 is still closed, so choose an alternate route!

A minor technicality, but that was actually a Beechcraft Super King Air, which is slightly larger than the King Air and has a T-tail stabilizer setup.

The local news media overplayed this plane crash. You would have thought it was a jumbo jet crash with 300 on board. Yes, I know it was serious for those three individuals, but it did not merit the coverage it received. I guess it was a slow news day.
