Nice article by Ben Stein about Greenville!

Quote:
SO HERE I AM in my beloved Greenville, most charming and friendly of small cities. All of South Carolina is wonderfully old-fashioned and warm, but Greenville is the best place ever. The main street is chock-full of helpful, open faces on both men and women. This is the polar opposite of Los Angeles, where everyone looks so surly and guarded. It still scares me even though I have been in L.A. for 37 years now.

It actually gets a little off topic, but the author did have some high praises for little ole' Greenville.

Default wow

I rarely agree with Ben Stein...but that was a great article. He really hit a lot of the little nuances that make Greenville so great.

I frequently agree with Ben but would have enjoyed the way he captured what I long to find in a town ,no matter who wrote it.

Nice article. I could totally relate, being from Florida myself, when he mentioned:

I have not seen one person run a red light or a stop sign since I have been here. I only once heard a car horn beep and that was from a car with a Florida license plate. No one comes even close to running me over when I am in a crosswalk.

It's like night and day, driving here vs FL..with the exception of the guy I saw run a red light on Buncome and 101 yesterday ; )

I liked the article. But I see dozens of people running red lights and stop signs and not using signals every single day. All of those are pretty prevalent here and seem more common than NC where I came from. I just make sure to double-check in both directions even before starting away at a green light.

Regardless, still glad to see good publicity.

I was thinking the same thing.

So YOU were the run who crossed the double yellow line into my lane and almost ran me off the road. Please give yourself a ticket immediately. I'll see you in court.
