An unembalmed body which has been kept "on ice" is not an unpleasant sight to see, even days after the death. Many people opt not to be embalmed, as it is a highly invasive (some would say bordering on barbaric), unnecessary and expensive procedure - all only to make the body "presentable" for viewing or display at a funeral.

Nonetheless, I am very sorry for your loss. Soon, these logistics will begin to play way in the background of your mind, as the loss and grief begin to take center stage.

Death. What an outrageous enemy. All will face it.

You have my sympathy and understanding.

Sometimes it is a welcome friend. And it is in the nature of things.

Not that this precludes the intense sense of loss and grief felt by those their beloved left behind. My sincere condolences to all, and may you find solace and comfort in the shared memories of your loved ones who have gone.
