No preference, just depends on the guy and his overall look. I had a thing for long, lush locks a la renaissance fairs when I was a young theatre major, but these days, if I'm going for length, a good length for me is John Corbett (as Chris Stevens in Northern Exposure, as opposed to John Corbett as Aidan Shaw in Sex and the City). Relaxed and chill without being overly hippie or romance novel cover.
I realize that longer hair doesn't suit everyone, though, and am good with a nice clean, closer cropped look as well, if it suits the guy. In some instances, I like nicely kept braids and dreads on men of color, but not if they're ratty and unruly.
I will say that, for the most part, I really dislike the military high-and-tight, and shaved heads. Once in a while, I'll see a guy who can rock it (and they're typically not white guys), but the majority of the time, I feel like a bit more hair is the more attractive option. Most people look better with hair than without. If a guy can't help it, cool, but if you're not balding, I'm not a big fan of the head shave.
Just for the record, I'm a guy chiming in. The answers thus far seems as if length is not such an important factor. Those in favor of long or short were just iffy on it.
My hair was all the way down my back until early last year. Ladies complimented me constantly, especially on the dance floor. I still wear it long but no longer down my back.
I also will not date a women with short hair. I just don't like it. I should start a thread on that but I'm sure it's been done.
There is no "irrelevant" choice so I didn't answer.
A man's hair "style" has little relevance for me insofar as his attractiveness. I've known very hot men with short/military cuts, with bald heads, with long hair, and all in between. Never been a factor in attractiveness, personally speaking.
(Ask me about height and build though...I have definite preferences!)
Oh hey wait....no "mullet" choice either? But....but....I love a nice, high, gelled mullet!
(Just kidding...definitely kidding on that one.)
