Hi all,

We are currently living in the Kempsville area of VB in a rental. We are looking to buy at some point this summer and the two leading candidates are in Chesapeake. Before you ask, we like the Kempsville area, but just aren't finding anyplace that really fits the bill for us in our price point.

So, for our possible locations: one is in one of the Cheshire neighborhoods, the other would be near Butts Rd. Primary.

1. We have two little ones, one in preschool. So, we're looking for a good preschool in those areas. We'd prefer part-day and teacher-student ratio is important.

2. How big a difference is there really between Great Bridge and Hickory schools? We've heard people rave about each and, long-term, we'd really prefer (good) public schools for our kids.

Thanks in advance!

My son is in the Hickory district. It's excellent. We have many friends that have kids in the Great Bridge district - it's also an excellent school district. I don't think you could go wrong with either.

You can find ratings on each school, here:

I think you would be happy with either one. Hickory, Great Bridge, and Grassfield all have very good schools. So pick the house and neighborhood you like best.
