Yeah, I don't know about nine out of ten, but I'm in a "historic" section of Hampton Roads, and you occasionally see rats scamper around.

I'd guess it's more like 10 or 20% though.

The Norway Rats are a nasty bit of business. Aren't they the ones that caused the Bubonic Plague?

Don't know, but I've stopped at some stores in the morning on the way to work and I've seen their dumpsters wide open. 7-11's can't give their 3 day old bread away anymore, they have to discard it. Used to get at least 3 loaves a week for the ducks at my lake. I would guess if they or any other mice like critter could get into your crawl space and live comfortably that they would stay, especially with the cold winters we've had.

was there some type of video news cast on this? the size of cats..sounds like Chicago or other metro that has run down areas.

For years, I lived in Illinois. I'd believe it about Chicago. That is one dirty, grimy city. I wouldn't be surprised if that city has more rats than humans, and that's not even counting the politicians*!!!

My neice used to live there, said she was happy to get out, cuz if the rats ever learned how to drive, the traffic nitemare would explode.
