I had a chance to visit the C.B.B.T. restaurant and gift shop one last time. I never thought that the restaurant was great, but I always thought that the concept of being able to stop for a bite to eat three miles off the coast was unique. I'm sorry that the restaurant and gift shop will close in a few days. I understand that expanding the man-made island to accommodate both the new tunnel and restaurant/gift shop is cost prohibitive; however, I wonder if there was any discussion about widening part of the pier to accommodate a new building.

I didn't care too much for the restaurant either, but I enjoyed having dinner with my father there on a cool, sunny day. Seeing the open ocean and large ships off in the distance made it worthwhile.
I read somewhere that the fishing pier will be closed permanently, too.
Caught my first striper and some decent fish there as a kid.
