I currently live in Chesapeake, Va and always have, but due to the hugh price increases on homes, need a new area to call home. Husband works in Portsmouth, Va so we want to be close. Does anyone know anything about Wharfs Landing or Camden Plantations in South mills? How are the schools? I know I can always do shopping in Chesapeake but is there anything else out there? I have a 2 and a 4 yr old. Are there any preschools or daycares in Camden? Curios about these new developements, but they seemed to have stalled on building what was originally planned according to their websites. Tried posting in NC forum, but got no response.

TY

I used to live in Camden off of 158 and i personally wouldnt be able to do it again for many reasons, I will say it was BEAUTIFUL down there and life was calm and relaxing BUT it was just to far away from things and we have friends who still live there (wharfs landing...i think..they just moved in 6 months ago so i could be mistaken but im pretty sure it was W.L) and they said that rent is going up 100$ for them so Im sure its not long before the prices of homes slowly catch up as well. When i lived there i had a 2 year old and she did enjoy the park but other than that i personally didnt find much for her to do but i wasnt fond of driving into E.City...Id rather drive up to VAB. I have heard alot of good things about the preschool up in Moyock ( i cant remember the name but you cant miss it on 168 its HUGE and brick and on the left if your heading to chesapeake) anyway the people down there were great and so friendly to us so overall it was a nice place to live and we have alot of great memories together as a family, i just hated being so far away from work etc. and all the tornado warnings i could have done without but we also had fields on 2 sides of us so the thought just freaked me out..LOL I didnt do too much research on the schools b/c I knew we wouldn't be there long but at the time my brother resided with us and he was going to attend the high school and I did hear many good things about it and the meetings i went to everyone was very informative and helpful and for me that made all the difference in the world.
Good luck it can be a hard decision to make but its def. an area worth checking out!
