My family and I are planning to move to Yorktown and would love some input about the traveling to and from Norfolk. My husband currently got a job in Norfolk. Your input is greatly appreciated.

In traveling from Yorktown to Norfolk, you basically have two viable options, both of which involve going through tunnels. Depending on exactly where in Norfolk you are traveling, the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (I-64) will likely be the most direct route. Unfortunately, this tunnel frequently backs up, particularly during the morning and afternoon rush hours. An alternative may be the Monitor-Merrimac Bridge-Tunnel (I-664) which is much less prone to traffic jams, but it may be quite a bit out of your way, depending on exactly where in Norfolk he will be working. If you want to be a little more specific about the location and expected travel times, I'm sure you can get a lot more advice on here. Yorktown is a wonderful place to live, and you will just have to weigh the pros and cons of having to travel through those tunnels.
