This should be an easy answer, but haven't been able to find any information. I have an HSA that I started with a local bank that I funded after I retired. The health insurance policy is an individual HSA eligible policy I bought through Wellmark -- Blue Cross/Blue Shield (Iowa).

I will be moving to Arizona in the near future and am planning to switch to another HSA eligible policy through ACA at that time until I turn 65 (approximately for one year).

Can I still fund my HSA account in Iowa? or do I need to move to another account holder in AZ? I wouldn't think it would matter but don't want to screw things up. Since I am funding the account myself I don't have to mess with an employer account and I would just change my address to my new AZ address.

HSA are Federal, So it does not matter if you use one in AZ or IA.

Just put in a change of address with your AZ bank.

You can leave the HSA account in Iowa if you want to.

If you do change banks, you can either "rollover" the funds, or "transfer" them. (IRS has different rules for each)

See https://www.irs.gov/publications/p96...link1000204068 for details
