Some of you may remember me mentioning that I would finally signed up for Medicare Part B and pay the penalty for late enrollment. I figured all would be done by now and I would be starting tomorrow, which is July 1st. However, despite applying in January, and despite calling twice since then, I still have not received any letter, notice, email, or new Medicare Card showing I will get Part B. No info at MyMedicare.govor anywhere else. When I called a month ago, and two months ago, I was told that “it is processing”. I’m not even sure what that phrase means today on the 30th of June. Does anyone have experience with signing up duringGeneral Enrollment and not getting it until after July 1st? I know no one here can do much, but I am just hoping someone can share their experiences if this happened to them?
You can also check Medicare status at the mySocialSecurity website at https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/
under "Benefit & Payment Details". However even it says it"may not reflect recent updates"

Been there, done that! Thanks for the idea though!
Update: Called in. The person on the phone was shocked at my situation. After checking, he or she did find that my application was at their processing center. They have no idea what is causing, but they sent a message to the processing center about it. I don't know if that will speed things up or not, but they said it could still take up to 60 days. So, for the next 2 months we may have to keep our old insurance active.
Update: Still no letter more than 90 days later, but I just received a new Medicare card showing that I have part B since July 1st. Still expecting a letter explaining how much it will cost ($134 + penalty) and how we will catch up since nothing was deducted from my SSDI in July to October. I'm guessing my check will be very small in November.
