I wanted to post here to let everyone know that the medical community has lost three active members in a tragic home invasion incident that has shocked Connecticut.
Lost were Jennifer Petit, a mom, wife, nurse and co-director of the health center at Cheshire Academy in CT. She was also an MS patient.
Her two daughters were also killed, Hayley, 17 and Michaela, 11. Upon learning of her mom's MS diagnosis, Hayley raised over $50,000 and was honored at the 'Women Against MS Luncheon' in June. She was among the top fundraisers in the state for MS.
Their father/husband, Dr. Bill Petit, survived the ordeal. He is an endocrinologist, the author of two books, a medical director of the Hospital of Central Connecticut's Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate, and serves as president of the Hartford County Medical Association. He is a past president of the state chapter of the American Diabetes Association and was elected to the ADA Hall of Merit in 1994.
These were good people who were the target of a random and senseless act. I guess bad things do happen to good people.
I read about this yesterday and was shocked. I grew up in Ct, went to Cheshire Academy many, many years ago...I still have friends and family around the Cheshire area and know if this can happen there, then nowhere is safe.
