I can deal with 5-6 occasionally but if I do that long term I start to feel like crap. I really need 7-8 hours to fully function.

I get in bed with 8 hours before I am scheduled to wake up and usually takes me 15 minutes to a hour to fall asleep. But I prefer 8 hours of knock every night.

I can't beleive all of you who survive averaging 5, 6 or 7 hours a night. I have always needed a lot and never had trouble sleeping until, yes, about 70 years old. I guess this happens to a lot of us, specially women as we age. It isn't the change, i went through that years ago. I am like Calver Hall, I almost have to take something (yes, usually every other night) I take an alergy pill, not a strong one, but I have alergies anyway and without my pill I will wake up about 3 or 4am needing to blow my nose. I really don't do well without at least 7 hours and do my best with about 8 or 9 hours. I usually am up at 5am, but often go to sleep about 8:30 or 9pm. If i don't take anything for sleep I do fine until midnight or 1am. Then I lay there for at least a couple of hours before I fall back to sleep. Last night I went to sleep at 9pm, slept until about 3am and never really went soundly back to sleep. I always feel great when I wake up, but by noon I am starting to drag unless I have had, at least 8 good hours.

I need 7-8 to function well. Anything below 7 and I feel horrible and don't function well.
