Senior with normal to high blood pressure and COPD.
Last night I experienced a new one for the aged, I guess.
Only once last night in bed, for a few mins my legs started shaking, I got up and moved around even thou it was a bit hard to walk as I could feel something in both hips aching.
Anyway, it went away in about 10 mins and I went back to bed.
Any ideas ?

Restless leg syndrome? Doesn't fit my case but who knows.
That's what I was going to say too. But it doesn't sound like the RLS I've seen. Hubby has RLS and when he sits a long time or goes to bed, his legs sort of start jumping. He can't stand it. It goes away if he stands up and walks around a little bit.
Dr gave him something called Mirapex. It helped but it was expensive and when I looked up the possible side effects I didn't like it. Since then he's been on 25 mg. Zinc picolinate instead. He takes the zinc on an empty stomach a few times a day and especially at bed time. One time when we were driving long distance and he'd forgotten his zinc, we stopped at a drug store and got him some. He couldn't drive due to the leg problems! Again, it worked but he had to take several doses.
If it is RLS, another cause could be lack of magnesium. Neither one is going to hurt if you try it for a few days. Older people are often deficient in zinc and hardly anyone gets enough magnesium.
Those are things you could try IF it is RLS. Other than that, I have no idea.
ETA: Actually, with the painful hips and the shaking going away completely, it doesn't sound like RLS.
IN_NewEngland, when I started taking primidone for a tremor, my RLS went away. I used to forget to take the Mirapex 2 hrs before bedtime but never forgot the primidone at bedtime. All my RLS symptoms quit. I was diagnosed with RLS after an overnight sleep study. Primidone is relatively cheap, too. It's an older drug for seizures but my neurologist uses it for essential tremor.
