They say you should not mix fruits with other food since fruits digest much faster than say meat, cheese, beans or else. It is said fructose in fruits makes other food get rotten in your stomach so you must eat other food at least half hour late after you had fruits.
What do you think of it? Is it true or just a gross exaggeration? Do you personally know any professional nutritionist who sticks to this rule in his/her prescriptions? If yes, how do they deal with classic dishes like cheese with grapes or oats with honey?
I generally eat one meal a day in the summer. I eat ketogenically, so therefore, I naturally limit fruit anyway. Lots of green veggies, though. A big grilled burger wrapped in lettuce, 5 raspberries plucked from my canes while burger was grilling, with a side of steamed broccoli covered in butter and cheese, and some zucchini and onion fried in butter was yesterday's meal.
I think this is a crackpot idea myself. Stop and think for 30 seconds. Imagine a very early human living in a state of nature, which would have been feast or famine at least part of the time. Do you seriously think that a human who had been on lean rations for a few days, wouldn't have the physical capability to digest fruit and meat at the same time? No, they'd eat themselves to satiety anytime they had the chance.
Foods don't "go rotten" in your stomach. They immediately begin breaking down with stomach acids and such. Food can't instantly go rotten based on the addition of a fruit. Complete rubbish.
1. Open mouth
2. Insert fruit in mouth
3. Clench jaw forcefully, if necessary, to break off a piece of the fruit (this action is called "biting")
4. Move jaw up and down repeatedly to mascerate fruit (this action is called "chewing")
5. Swallow
6. Repeat as necesary until fruit is gone
I have read soooo many ridiculous articles over the years about "food rotting in the stomach." That goes along with not drinking cold liquids because "they congeal." Who makes up this crapola?
