If this were the case then you would have to wipe down every door knob you touched, pretty much anything in public that anyone else had ever touched. Fortunately, it's been debunked, as said above. If something sounds scary, it's a good idea to check it out before passing it on. 99 times out of 100 it's a hoax that someone made up to see how many people they could get to bite and pass it on without checking.
