I have a doctor's appointment for next Tuesday.
I am on blood pressure medicine but it looks like I need an adjustment.
How bad is this reading?
How often do you take it? Take 3 readings at least and then do an average. Lower your salt intake. Give it a little time between readings.
I was going nuts for years taking my BP daily, keeping logs etc etc. BP changes with just about every thought, everything we put in our mouths. Meditation is a great equalizer for BP. Doing it daily, even 8 min or so...doesn't take much, just do it.
And you may need a change but there is so much we can do for ourselves.
And BREATH...be aware of your breathing. So many hold their breath and we need to breath in deeply thru our nose and out long and slowly thru our mouth. This breathing technique is good to reduce pain also.

"Hypertensive Urgency If your blood pressure is 180/120 or greater, wait about five minutes and try again. If the second reading is just as high and you are not experiencing any other associated symptoms of target organ damage such as chest pain, shortness of breath, back pain, numbness/weakness, change in vision, or difficulty speaking, this would be considered a hypertensive urgency. Your healthcare provider may just have you adjust or add medications, but rarely requires hospitalization."
Your BP is definitely too high. Your Dr will probably adjust your meds.
Many people find they need to really watch sodium in their diets, which means reading all food labels for sodium content. We had to stop ALL prepared food for my husband and only cook from scratch. Even regular cottage cheese has a lot of added salt. All cheese other than Swiss is high in sodium. It's a nuisance and eliminates many food favorites, but it is the only way he keeps his BP down along with the meds. GOOD LUCK!!
OP too much beer could also raise your blood pressure. I am just assuming that is your drink of choice.
