I have been smelling cig smoke for over a year off and on, sometimes its like a sulfa smell but its so strong it burns my eyes.. I told my Doc and about a month ago I had a CT scan and they found that I had an infection in my Ethmoid sinus.. I went on an antibiotic and it seems to have cleared up but the smell just started up again!! its horrible! there's nothing serious going on, she said I have no bleeds and no tumors.. I have read somewhere that ur sinuses can get damaged and cause odd smells.. last thing I want to do is have surgery and they do have a procedure they do for this, I have had bad sinuses my whole life and I'm now 57.. I hope I don't have another infection brewing.. geez

Cig smell occurred to me too. It was almost driving me mad. It went away but came back, went away again. Never figured it out. One of the times I had been near a smoker but the smell lasted for weeks. Other time kinda blew that theory. I had concluded it also could have been a nasal spray I had tried. There was a thread on this forum not long ago about the same subject. Perhaps some answers.

Start doing sinus rinses twice a day, and it might just heal you up. It worked for me. You can find this stuff in your local drug store, etc:

Sinus Rinse
