She points to MLMs as a main source for lots of these supplements and the mindset that alternative always beats traditional medicine. The number of people who want to believe that essential oils cures their (insert ailment here) or that a skin patch will rid the body of toxins or that special coffee will melt the fat away is mind-blowing. Avoid all MLMs and the bulk of these absurd beliefs goes away. Save a bundle in the process.
An MLM 24 yrs ago got me on my great antioxidant and has kept me in good health and off MANY pharma drugs for at least 24 of my 80 yrs and I'll continue to hopefully do what I do. This antioxidant is sold everywhere now, even Costco. If it wasn't for the company bringing this antioxidant into the U.S. via MLM I may have never found out about it and living with the good health I have appreciated.

Most/Many I'd say don't find alternatives via MLM, I just happened to fall into a salvation as I see it with what I've found 24 yrs ago via MLM. Many MLM companies offer high quality products but I tried that route once in my life and one can buy supps everywhere.
For me it's been wonderful NOT buying an allergy/sinus drug in 24 yrs soon.

people have ALWAYS fallen for snake oil. They will continue to fall for snake oil forever. Unfortunately, thanks to Senator Hatch whose son was in the snake oil business, Hatch managed to get snake oil deregulated, so now, with no FDA oversight, efficacy and safety don't have to be proven for snake oil.
Love that comment, snake oil. At least these snake oil remedies don't have no where near the deaths from drug interactions annually. Thinking if more got on the snake oil wagons, less people would be in rehabs etc.
I don't like to call my supps and remedies snake oils but for the sake of so many here I'll go along with that...BUT sure glad my mother taught me and I was raised with so many remedies long before the medical explosion took place, and they both lived into 90's and none of the major expensive drugs of today's world. Which also can include a lot of pricey unnecessary tests and yes they had pain in their lives, but lived with a lot, as I do today.

I posted this here instead of the supp sub-forum just to indicate a safety issue, not a fight on benefits and non benefits of supps.
