Hello everyone,

I have been struggling with fatigue for years, but I always put it off to not being physical enough. Then a few weeks ago I started having sharp "shock-like" pain on the right side of my head. It would start around the ear area and shoot up my head, to the edge of my face, or down my neck. That has calmed down some, but I have pain, achy, and smaller sharp pains in the same areas the majority of every day. I had an MRI of my brain last Friday and it showed a 1.3cm cyst in the pineal gland. My doctor has put a referral out to he neurologist an appt to get his opinion on this causing the pain. I don't know when that will be scheduled yet, but wondering if anyone else has gone through something like this?

Sincerely,
Theresa

Hi, Tdurkee. We're not ignoring you, it's just that you asked if anyone was having trouble from one, and almost nobody ever does. Pineal cysts are not rare (occur in 1-2% of all people) but only cause symptoms in 1% of all brain pathology cases. https://www.med.unc.edu/neurosurgery.../pineal-cysts/

It's a good bet you have pains in your head/neck AND also just happen to have a pineal cyst.

Your doc is probably evaluating you for all the routine, common causes of those pains-- arthritis, TMJ, dental, aural, sinus problems etc. He ordered the MRI and just happened to find something unexpected but probably not contributing (hopefully). ...It'll be interesting to see what the neurologist says.
