Anyone know how to make a good poltis/pultas??? (infection, wounds, organic)

Sorry, I'm not sure how to say it correctly, let alone spell it. It is a home made paste they use to put on infected wounds, back in the old days. I can remember my grandmother putting one on my brother to pull the infection out of a wound he had. I try'd a search, but didn't come up with any thing. I just want to know how to make it, you can never tell when you may need one.
