My mum had an OP 3 years ago to replace C3 and C5 of her C spine and now we recieved bad news about her MRI, the nerve damage is getting worse and they really dont want to operate its too risky, they said.
If you are worried about her mental state, it will not be affected (except for depression). She may lose control of part of her body, she may be in a lot of pain. She may want to stop walking if it hurts a lot. What are the doctors recommending? That article suggested neck support and a brace may be helpful.
A drug called Neurontin helps a lot of people with back pain. It "calms down" the nerves that transmit pain so the nerves are less likely to transmit an exaggerated sensation.

Hi there, is there a chance her spinal cord could become compromised?
We haven't spoke to the doctor yet he said he would be arranging a consultation soon. I am just very worried about her spine.
I think it already is compromised, that's what this condition is.
So do you think there are no other treatments? I know they didn't want to operate again they said it was too risky, so eventually she will end up completely paralyzed?
Sorry i haven't come to terms with any of this yet its a shock to all of us we were not expecting this to happen. The bone spurs are growing.
I'm sorry, I only know what I read in the link you provided. I think you need to make a list of the questions you have, to take to her next appointment. You could ask if Neurontin would help with the pain, it's been a god-send to me.

Ok, thanks for the information.
