A recent viewing of the movie Barry Lyndon inspired me to learn more about this period. What a complicated mess. Can you recommend a good book on this subject? I looked and there are many. It's been a long time since high school history classes - world history and American history Thanks
I have had trouble also, finding one book that covered this era. I read once that the Seven Years War should really be considred the first 'World War' as every major area of the world was involved in it. There are many books that deal with it in the individual areas, but none that I've found so far, that cover the whole thing really in depth. Hope someone comes up with one, as I'd like to read more on it also. Another 'overlooked' war is the Thirty Years War...I've read several excellent books on that.
